A Recreational Pilot License (RPL) in Australia allows you to fly certain types of light aircraft for recreational purposes only, and the flying privileges are limited compared to a Private Pilot License (PPL) or Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
With an RPL, you can fly a single-engine aircraft that weighs up to 1,500 kg with a maximum of three passengers and only within 25 nautical miles (NM) of the departure aerodrome, subject to certain conditions. Additionally, you must not fly in controlled airspace or fly at night, and you must comply with the airspace restrictions and procedures set by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).
Therefore, you cannot fly very far with an RPL in Australia. The RPL is designed for recreational flying within a limited range of the departure aerodrome. If you wish to fly further and/or at night, you would need to obtain additional qualifications, such as a PPL or CPL.
